SIA Close protection officers have dynamic, highly paid and rewarding careers usually working as bodyguards for VIPs, diplomats, celebrities, politicians or providing security in the aviation and maritime industry. We only recommend the close protection course for serious individuals with prior experience in the security industry as the course is both long and demanding.

Course Details
The SIA Close protection training course runs anywhere between 12 to 18 days depending on the daily hours of the course. You must also hold a First Aid at Work (FAW) or First Person on Scene (FPOS) qualification as a pre-requisite. The FAW course is often offered as part of the close protection training course. This is the longest SIA training course and requires dedication and commitment for successful completion. The topic covered on the course include:

Course Assessment
Throughout the course, your trainer will assess you through various exercises and practical demonstrations. You will also sit a multiple choice question examination. Successful candidates will achieve the Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry.
All of the assessments will be conducted within the course duration.

Step 2: Apply through SIA website
- TThe next step is to complete the forms on the SIA’s website. The SIA stands for Security Industry Authority and they issue the licence. The SIA is a government body and will check the following:
- Your identity
- Criminal record and background
- Your course qualification
You do not need to provide any proof of your qualification as the SIA is able to check and validate qualifications electronically.
